Down is the New Up

get yourself together let the love pour in
pour yourself a hot bath, pour yourself a drink
nothings gonna happen without warning

down is the new up
what is up buttercup?
down is the new up

your services are not required
your futures is bleak, your so last week

ladies and gentlemen, without a safety net
i shall now perform a 180 flip flop
i shall now amputate i shall now contort

down is the new up
What if I just flip flop?
down is the new up

you're on candid camera
the chink in your armour
topsy turvy town
topsy turvy town
shake your pockets out
pass it on pass it down
topsy turvy town
topsy turvy town

you've gone off and left us
gone off and left us
you bastard

Go Slowly

oh m______
come slowly
come slowly
to me
ive been waiting
patient
patiently
i didnt get it
but now I can see

Pitchfork: So there's not a constant cloud hanging over the band in terms of repeatihttp://www.blogger.com/img/gl.link.gifng yourselves or others?

CG: No. There's a song we're playing called "Go Slowly" and there's a bit in the middle that breaks and it's really violent, and I reckon there's an R.E.M. song that's somewhat similar. But references like that are emotional ones that are tied to your memory of other peoples' great music. By now, you accept your limitations. And as you get older you realize how important your emotional response is to any kind of music-- from the new Autechre to "Dragonfly" by Fleetwood Mac-- and how that can inform what you make next. It's the most important thing and it's easy to forget that and think, "Oh, this is new and happening."

Last Flowers to the Hospital

appliances have gone berserk
I cannot keep up
treading on people's toes
'snot-nose little punk'

i can't face the evening straight
you can offer me escape
houses move and houses speak
take me then you'll get relief

and if i’m gonna talk
i just wanna talk
please don't interrupt
just sit back and listen

because I can't face the evening straight
you can offer me escape
houses move and houses speak
if you take me then you'll get relief

it's too much
too bright
too powerful
too much
too bright
too powerful
too much
too bright
too powerful

i absolutley love this song. the name will get changed probably to Cogs.(Sarky cogs skwrkinground). jonny and i have rewritten the 2nd verse and we are yet to start recording it. but its not lost.

Up on the Ladder

I'm stuck in the tardis
trapped in hyper-space
one minute snake charming
the next in a motorcade

all the right moves
in the right places
watch me dance i'm a puppet
you can almost see the strings

give me an answer
give me a line
i been climbing up this ladder
i been wasting my time

up on the ladder or like tied to a stake
up on the ladder we wait for your mistake

up on the ladder trying to call out your name
up on the ladder we're all the fuckin' same

Bangers & Mash

you bit me..ow
i got the poison...now

im standing in the hall
im puking up the wall
we dance around the spout
do the conga eel

The bangers and mash
the negatives for cash
your either in the club baby
or your not

whatever turns you on
whatever gets you up
chief of police
vice chancellor

lord and lady blah blah
the vicar and the judge
youll all dance into my little red book

you bit me
ow
i got the poison
now

if you are on top
then it is a long drop
the pyramid is power
they're changing by the hour
if you are on top
then it is a long drop
if you stare into the dark
the dark will stare back,
back into your soul
back into your soul

i'm taking you down
i'm taking you down
i'm taking you down
when I go down

you bit me
you bit me
you bit me
ow
you bit me
you bit me
i got the poison
now

4 Minute Warning

this is just a nightmare
soon I'm gonna wake up
someone's going to bring me round.

running from the bombers
running through the fields
hiding in the forest
laying flat on the ground

just like everybody
stepping over heads
running thru the underground

this is your warning
your 4 minute warning

i don't wanna hear it
i don't wanna know
i just want to run and hide

this is just a nightmare,
and soon I'm gonna wake up
someone's going to bring me round.

this is your warning,
4 minute warning

"The 'Phil Is Don Henley' Song".
--Colin Greenwood

Ed
[...] highlight of the day is attempting 3 part harmonies on "neil young *9"- not the harmonies themselves, but phil cracking up because he feels a bit like that drummer from the eagles. a fucking brilliant rehearsal. its great to be in our band.
